About
One of my earliest memories is sitting with my Nana in our living room (which was a converted carport, complete with brick walls!), helping her clip coupons on Sunday afternoons. I loved all the little bits of paper that were leftover, and sometimes even tried to make tiny snowflakes out of the remainders of the inserts. At my young age, I wasn’t too interested in actually using coupons, but it was those Sunday afternoons that led me back to couponing almost two decades later.
I started really getting into couponing in the Winter of 2008, and became even more involved in January 2009. When I found out my husband and I were going to become a family of three, I really started to think about how we could cut corners to make the necessary adjustments to our lives financially. One of my answers (beyond just mentally saying “No!” whenever an unnecessary purchase presented itself) was to focus some of my time on creating a coupon stockpile.
While my pregnancy complications prevented me from doing as much as I would’ve liked, I was able to expand my “couponing knowledge” and start a small stockpile of necessities (both household and grocery) before my son was born. Since the birth of my bubbly little boy– with the help of my husband and Mom– I’ve been able to grow our stockpile even further. I didn’t have the opportunity (or foresight) to document my couponing in 2009, so one of my resolutions was to make the commitment to document it in 2010.
My goal with this blog is to document what I spend– on coupons, out of pocket costs, sales tax– and what I am able to buy. My hope is to pay as close to sales tax as possible each week, grow my stockpile even further, and also be able to contribute goods to my community. I hope you’ll join me on my adventure, and dive right in yourself!
